"At The Table: Abundance/The Door" is a multidisciplinary work that merges visual, written, and spoken art into a cohesive narrative experience. I collaborated with writer Marcy Rodenborn, inviting her to interpret a visual narrative that I created. Given only the visual representation, Marcy crafted a story that weaves together two distinct yet interconnected parts of the narrative.
The first part, "Abundance," tells the tale of a young, wealthy girl living under the strict care of a dominating woman. The second part, "The Door," follows the girl as an adult, reflecting on her drastically altered fortunes. She grapples with her past, experiences her present, and ultimately makes her own choices. To further immerse the viewer, Marcy recorded these narratives, allowing the audience to listen through headphones and actively engage their imagination, bringing the story to life in their minds as they explore the visual elements. This layered approach invites participants to experience the work on multiple levels, blending sight, sound, and story.
